East Africa Emergency Appeal

Today 16 million people are in a critical life-threatening situation throughout East Africa.

The United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, has reported that over 1 million people have fled South Sudan to bordering countries. Leaving behind deserted towns and villages as conflict threatens. Other parts of the country face famine, worsened by conflict. The UN World Food Programme and UNICEF, claim that 4.9 million people, more than 40% of the population of South Sudan, are in urgent need of food and water. We need your help to respond.

Fields of Life has already been in contact with its church partners in Northern Uganda where, according to UNHCR, at least 780,000 refugees have arrived. Our church partners have already been responding, working directly with tens of thousands of South Sudan refugees in the region. The situation in the refugee camps is desperate and we are mobilising to support their efforts.  Lives are at risk. The camps are bursting from the huge influx of people who have walked for days, with only what they can carry, to reach the safety of Uganda.

These people desperately need your help in providing urgent life-saving supplies such as clean water and other essential emergency items.

Please pray for this critical situation and please give what you can afford as soon as you can. Your gift could literally mean the difference between life and death.

He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.” Deuteronomy 10 v 18-19
