In March 2014 six students commenced a two-year teacher training course at Solidarity Teacher Training College in Yambio.
Read below about Jennifer Edward Riboro….
Jennifer Edward Riboro, from Ibba, is one of two women being trained. Jennifer and her siblings were educated in Maridi and one of her sisters is currently studying in Uganda. Education is highly valued in her family and, uniquely, opportunities have been given to daughters as well as sons.
Jennifer was invited to attend the teacher training course. In recent years our partners had to recruit teachers from Uganda due to lack of qualified teachers. This has proved successful with Year 8 achieving 100% success, the highest in the state, for students graduating to secondary school.
After leaving school Jennifer gave birth to two children. It was difficult for her to be away from her children but she is very fortunate to have a compassionate mother to look after them for four months at a time.
Jennifer is looking forward to completing her studies and being able to return to Ibba, rejoin her children and begin her teaching career. “I wish to thank God for my mother and for providing Fields of Life to sponsor my training so I’m able to pursue my dream to become a teacher in Ibba,” she said.
