Gloria’s life took a drastic turn when she lost both her parents and was forced to start working to earn money to be able to finance her education. Her life took a more drastic turn when Gloria was forced to get married at just 15 years old and then became pregnant.
“Life was very difficult for me because I was so young. I had lost all hope.”
The Fields of Life I AM GIRL project aims to support vulnerable young girls like Gloria to stay in school and complete their education, giving them hope for the future.
“Right before I lost all hope, Fields of Life came to my rescue. Through I AM GIRL, they started a project at my former school to help teenage mothers return to school. My teachers thought of me and brought the good news to me. I am so happy to have resumed my academic journey and I now have hope for the future.”
Recently my colleague from our East Africa team shared her sorrow when she met a grandmother, aged just 24 years old. This shocking reality is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by vulnerable young girls like Gloria.
