Tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Monica Nyakwera Kabi. I am married with three children. I have 15 years of working experience and I previously studied at; Makerere University, Uganda Martyrs University, Uganda Management Institute and FUE’s Female Future Program for women in leadership.
Tell us a fun fact:
I love jokes!
One day a friend of mine laughed so hard at a joke I made and asked why I was not out competing against Anne Kansiime, the well-established comedian.
When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and Why?
I first got involved when I saw the job advert in the newspaper and the tagline below the logo; “Changing Lives, Building Hope”.
This is such a loaded tagline so I decided to visit the website. I was so impressed with the work that I applied.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Working with children, both girls and boys, and building their hope is very interesting. Development work is both interesting and challenging…and it even gets more challenging when people have no hope.
What’s been the most exciting thing since you started?
The Monday morning devotions are very exciting. I like the way they are organised and the consistency with which they are done.
Also the people are very pleasant. I felt welcome right away.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Honest, jolly, tolerant.
